This Saturday, a new episode of boxing rivalry between Colombia and Venezuela will be held in Barranquilla. World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight Champion, Liliana Palmera, will fight against former Interim Champion of the division, Alys Sánchez.

“La Tigresa” wants to defend her crown against the hard-fought Venezuelan. It will be a special occasion, as Palmera will return to Barranquilla, where she won her Interim title in October 2014. “I am happy and thank God for the opportunity He gives me to make this defense, and especially here in Barranquilla, where I was crowned world champion”, she said.

Palmera talked about her preparation for the bout and assured that she feels in excellent condition to go in the ring: “I am physically and mentally prepared, and very positive. When I left Monteria I was only a few grams above, so I know I’m on weight”.

“The first fight against Alys Sanchez was very hard because she is a very fierce boxer. She moves well over the ring, she is strong, but I defeated her and I have prepared very well to beat her again, I know it’s going to be a good fight”, said the 122-pound queen, who already beat “la China” back in February 2015.

Palmera has a record of 27 wins, 11 losses, 3 draws and 16 knockouts. Sánchez, who will try to snatch the belt from the Colombian, has a balance of 14 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 4 knockouts.
