The World Boxing Association (WBA) regrets the passing of Antonio Curtis, an important man for the sport who did a great job as a matchmaker and promoter throughout his boxing career.

Curtis was well known in the California area, specifically at “The Forum” in Inglewood, where he made the venue his home and worked with great boxers on excellent events.

Known as Tony Curtis, he was born in Panama and moved to Los Angeles, where he began his boxing career. “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez are some of the great fighters he worked with and made them boxing stars.

Curtis always thought about the show and good fights, which is why he earned the respect of boxing people and fans in general. Many of his events will be remembered forever thanks to their quality.

The WBA sends its condolences to Curtis’ family and friends at this time. A boxing great man is gone and the mourning within the sport is collective. May he rest in peace.
