The World Boxing Association (WBA) wishes a speedy recovery to the Lightweight Super Champion of the organization, Teofimo Lopez, who tested positive for Covid-19 a few days before his defense against George Kambosos in Miami, Florida.

Triller, the company in charge of organizing the event, confirmed the result of Lopez’s test and that the fight, initially scheduled for this Saturday, is now tentatively scheduled for August 14th.

Lopez comes from defeating Vasyl Lomachenko to win the black and gold belt, in addition to the WBC, IBF, and WBO titles. Now his first defense will have to wait due to the bad news received.

The oldest organization in the world wishes a great recovery and a speedy return to the gym for “The Takeover”.
