The delegations participating in the “Future WBA Champions” Training Camp in Medellin were surprised by the visit of the President of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Gilberto Mendoza. From very early on, the leader arrived at the athletics track of the Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot.

Mendoza met with all the teams and talked about the fighters concerns and desires, who seek to complete their Olympic dream in Tokyo 2020 and are getting ready to achieve that goal in this project created by the WBA to support world boxing and the current situation.

“I am proud to be with all of you. My aim is to be a helping hand today and always and to serve as a support on this Olympic path. The WBA is committed to supporting boxing worldwide and I am proud that we are the first organization to gather so many countries and give them the best tools in their preparation,” Mendoza told the fighters before their training.

The WBA President has always wanted to be deeply involved with the main actors and has made it clear that his management is not in an office, so he started to train and share with several of the teams, especially with Venezuela, Uruguay and Argentina, who used the same spaces to workout.

The “Future WBA Champions” is the most important event on the way to the Olympic Games and has 10 countries participating, including Italy, Uzbekistan, Puerto Rico, Panama, among others.
