Conor Benn will return to the ring next Saturday, April 16 to defend his WBA Continental welterweight title against Chris Van Heerden at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

The WBA regional champion will be defending his championship for the seventh time in a fight that promises good action and that will be the highlight of the event, which will be organized by Matchroom Boxing.

Benn is one of the most important young fighters at 147 lbs and his evolution has been reflected fight by fight.  As he gains experience, he shows better things and accumulates merits to fight for a world championship in the future.

The 25-year-old fighter comes from a string of victories against renowned opponents. In April 2021 he defeated Samuel Vargas by knockout, then dominated Adrian Granados by decision in September, while in December he scored the knockout of the year against Chris Algieri.

Van Heerden is an experienced fighter who is 34 years old and has been inactive for some time, but whose career and record back him up. The South African has faced the likes of Jaron Ennis, Errol Spence Jr. and others.

Benn is undefeated in 20 fights, 13 won by knockout, while Van Heerden has a record of 28 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 12 knockouts.
