The Palacio Municipal de Deportes Vista Alegre witnessed a historic night for Spanish boxing. Rafael Lozano Jr., son of the legendary two-time Olympic medalist Rafael “El Balita” Lozano, enjoyed a dream professional debut by capturing the WBA Ibero-American flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over experienced Venezuelan Kervin Romero.

Under the event’s slogan “The Legacy,” the young fighter from Córdoba accepted the challenge of making his professional debut in a ten-round fight, a bold gamble that he validated with a display of technique and maturity well beyond his experience level. Lozano Jr. controlled the tempo from the start, using a sharp jab to keep Romero’s aggression in check as the Venezuelan consistently tried to force exchanges at close range and target the body.

The key moment came in the fifth round, when Lozano Jr. landed a precise counter that sent the Venezuelan to the canvas and forced the first count of the fight. Despite the knockdown, Romero showed admirable courage, remaining competitive and searching for a miracle punch until the final seconds of the tenth round. However, the local fighter’s movement and hand speed proved to be a puzzle the visitor could rarely solve throughout the contest.

At the end of the distance, the judges confirmed the new champion’s superiority with scorecards of 99–90, 99–90, and 96–93. With the victory, Rafael Lozano Jr. begins his professional journey with a 1–0 record and his first international title already on the shelf, proving that the Lozano name remains synonymous with success in the ring while he keeps his long-term goal of competing at the Los Angeles Olympic Games firmly in sight.
