Lewis Ritson and Miguel “Títere” Vázquez will fight this Saturday at the East of England Arena in Peterborough for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental Super Lightweight title held by the former.

The regional champion of the pioneer organization will put an end to his inactivity of over a year in a very promising fight. Ritson, 26, won his belt in March 2019 when he defeated Germán Argentino Benitez. In August that year, he made his first defense against Marek Jedrzejewski.

The Briton also got a victory over Robbie Davies in October 2019 in a match in which the belt was not at stake. Now, he will go to the second defense of the title against a veteran boxer and former world champion who intends to return to the boxing elite.

The Mexican boxer comes from a TKO against Jesus Velasco in December and feels ready for a higher challenge. At 33 years old, he knows that this is a train that cannot be missed in order to reach his goal of having a new title opportunity.

The weigh-in ceremony will take place in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, this Friday. Both fighters will have to weigh the 140 pounds required by the division, and on Saturday they will enter the ring. Ritson has 29 wins, 1 loss and 12 KOs, while Vazquez has 42 wins, 9 losses and 16 KOs.
