Ratings Committee

Article 1 – Introduction
The Rating Committee has been appointed and works according to Article “B” of the W.B.A.
CONTINENTAL Rules and Regulations.
Article 2 – Function of the W.B.A Continental Ratings Committee
The Ratings Committee will compile each month a table of up to 15 boxers in each of the weight categories recognized by the World Boxing Association, such table to be based upon boxing merit as well as results of the most recent contests up to the last day of the previous month.

Such Ratings will be published on the W.B.A. website, section “Europe”.

Article 3 – Eligibility
To be eligible to be rated in the W.B.A. Continental ratings a boxer must be:
(a) A minimum of 18 years of age;
(b) Domiciled in and a citizen of a European country for a minimum of 1 year
(c) Licensed for a minimum of one year by a National federation or organization

Article 4 – Weights
The weight categories recognized by the W.B.A. Continental are defined in Article 3.02 (b) of  the World Boxing Association “BYLAWS”.

Article 5 – Standards of rating
As a general rule the Ratings Committee at its complete discretion shall rate only boxers who are capable of competing for W.B.A. Continental title. Boxers must have fought a minimum of 8 contests, one of them scheduled to be over 8 rounds. Of these contest a minimum of 2 contests in last 24 months must have taken place in Europe. And a minimum of 50% of the boxer’s last 10 fights must have taken place in Europe and to have been sanctioned by a National Association.

The Boxer must have been active during last 12 months in order to remain in the ratings by having had a minimum of two contests.
The Ratings Committee at its complete discretion shall take into consideration the boxer’s general ability, his recent performances, his record and activity, and as to the ability and record of his opponents .

Article 6 – Introduction of a boxer to the ratings
A boxer may be recommended to be rated by a member of the Ratings Committee or by a written recommendation from his National Association. The Boxer can be rated only in one weight division at a time. He must have boxed at least once in his last two contest’s in the
weight division he wants to be rated in. When a boxer engages in a title fight he will be rated in the category in which that contest takes place.

As a general rule no boxer will be included in the ratings after having been defeated in his last contest; it is the discretion of the Ratings Committee if it is to decide otherwise.

Article 7 – Removal from the ratings
A boxer shall no longer be rated:
a/ if the Ratings Committee at its complete discretion no longer regards him as worthy contender
b/ In the circumstances of the champion or a mandatory challenger, if either of them have been inactive for more than 6 months, his rating may be removed
c/ if he is no longer licensed by a National Association
d/if he is suspended by his National Association
e/If he is found having used forbidden drugs (WADA), the suspension from the ratings is a maximum of 2 years.

Article 8 – World champions
Current Full world champions will not be rated as contenders, but mentioned as ineligible at the end of the rating list.

Article 9 – Official Challenger
The next Mandatory Challenger will be appointed by the Ratings Committee, and such an appointment shall be made known by the Chairman, xxxx at the moment of the confirmation of the next championship contest.

Unless otherwise decided at the complete discretion of the Ratings Committee that the highest rated and available contender who accepts the
nomination shall become next Official Challenger.

As a general rule no contender shall be appointed as Official Challenger after having been defeated in his previous contest unless the Ratings Committee at its complete discretion decides otherwise.

Article 10 – Loss of the status of Official Challenger
If the Current Official Challenger loses in a contest prior to challenging for the Championship he may lose his status unless otherwise decided by the Ratings Committee and he will be replaced by the next highest rated and available contender, who accepts the nomination.

Article 11 – Withdrawal from a Championship Contest
The Champion or Mandatory Challenger, who has excepted the contest either by the signing of a contract agreement or agreeing to purse bids, then withdraws from the contest, may be fined 3000 (Euros) and may not be allowed to fight for the W.B.A. Continental championship within the next 12 months. If the fines are not paid boxers will be removed from ratings and any further championship consideration until they have paid the fine.
