The boxer Can Xu successfully completed the first defense of the featherweight championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA), after defeating the Japanese Shub Kubo by six-round technical knockout, at an event held in Fuzhou, China.

Xu had no opposition, presented a good display of boxing and combinations to the body and face of his rival. Kubo, a 122-pound ex-monarch, tried to fight hand to hand and sell his defeat, but while receiving a lot of punishment, referee Gustavo Padilla stopped the actions to protect his health.
