The World Boxing Association (WBA) regrets the death of boxer Simiso Buthelezi last Tuesday after a tournament organized in South Africa.

According to the official statement from the South African boxing federation and the boxer’s family, Buthelezi collapsed after the bout and was taken to the hospital, where he lost his life. Images of the disoriented boxer in the ring have gone around the world.

The pioneer organization expresses its condolences to Buthelezi’s family and friends, as well as to South African boxing in general, for such a terrible event.
