The World Boxing Association (WBA) mourns the passing of former world title challenger, Filipino Toto Landero.

It had been reported a couple of days ago that Landero had been swept away by the current of a river in his hometown when he attempted to cross it after a heavy rain.

Yesterday, local media reported that he was found dead after two days of exhausted search by the authorities in charge.

Landero was just 26 years old and faced Thammanoon Niyomtrong in 2018 for the WBA world title. The pioneer body mourns the passing of Landero and sends condolences to his family and friends, as well as Filipino boxing which is mourning this sensitive loss.
