The World Boxing Association (WBA) mourns the passing of Nicaraguan Gustavo Jarquín, sportswriter and international judge, who was a member of our family since 2011.

Different reports from the Nicaraguan national press said that Jarquín suffered a blood pressure rise and a heart attack while broadcasting his program “Cápsulas Deportivas” in the morning hours, for which he had to be hospitalized in a private clinic.

After 11 hours in a coma, the unfortunate news of his death was announced. Both the radio station and the entire journalistic guild of the country and the WBA are deeply saddened by the departure of such a valuable man and scholar of the sport.

The pioneer organization is in mourning for the departure of one of its members and sends its condolences to his family, friends and Nicaraguan sport.
