The WBA Future of Colombian Boxing, supported by the World Boxing Association (WBA), will be back on Saturday, August 3. This is an initiative of the pioneer organization to promote boxing prospects in various parts of Latin America (Colombia, Panama and Venezuela).
The event will have a total of 8 professional bouts, with the addition of the rivalry between the two boxing leagues, Bolivar vs Sucre. The program, promoted by Alberto Agamez, will take place in San Onofre, Colombia. In addition, it will be broadcast live on the World Boxing Association’s Youtube channel.

The most anticipated fight of the event will be the 10-round bout between the young undefeated local Carlos Utria, who will make his first defence of his Fedecaribe belt in the World Boxing Association (WBA) super lightweight category against the experienced Venezuelan Helber Rojas. Likewise, the Colombian national title will be contested between Jair Mulett (8-0) and Yeiner Saenz (4-0).
Carlos Utria update
Carlos Alfonzo Utria, born in Soplaviento, Colombia, will step into the ring for the second time in 2024, after defeating Venezuelan Robinson Garcia (17-14) by knockout in the first round and winning the title he will be defending.
He made his debut in May 2023 in Barranquilla, where he won by knockout against Alan Anaya (1-11). He went on to win by knockout over Carlos Quintero (0-7) in June, Luis Diaz Marmol (19-20) in August, a month later he defeated Santiago Ochoa (4-2) and ended the year with a first round knockout win over Hernan Perez (2-2).
The 20-year-old Utria (6-0 / 6 KO) possesses 100 per cent knockout power. He also has one win over Venezuelan opponents.
Helber Rojas update
The native of Caucagua, Venezuela, Helber David Rojas, will face his third fight of 2024, and returns to Colombian soil after just over a year, after losing by knockout in the eighth round to American Abel Mendoza (41-0).
Last March he won the WBF international title in Germany against the local, Fatih Duebues (11-3) by knockout in the second round. Likewise, his last fight so far was in his homeland, where he defeated compatriot Danny Marichales (7-11) by knockout.
Rojas (24-10-2), 31, has a knockout power of over 80%. He also owns a four-fight win streak and two-fight losing streak in his last six fights.
