Hannah Rankin will defend her World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight championship on Friday against Mexican Alejandra Ayala at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

The local fighter will have the opportunity to make the first defense of her WBA and WBO crowns at home.

Rankin won both belts last November 5, when she defeated Maria Lindberg by unanimous decision during their bout held in London, England.

The 31-year-old champion is very motivated in front of her people and is committed to give a great performance.

Ayala, on the other hand, arrives with nothing to lose and much to gain. The Mexican has won two bouts in a row and will have her first opportunity for a world title.

Rankin has a record of 11 wins, 5 losses and 2 knockouts, while Ayala has 14 wins, 5 losses and 8 knockouts.
