The World Boxing Association (WBA) will have plenty of activities with regards to world titles in September. In addition to the Super Middleweight Championship fight by Gennady Golovkin and Saúl Álvarez on the 16th of this month, there will be four belts up for dispute during September.
The action will start this very Sunday 3, when the Japanese Shun Kubo (12-0, 9KO) defends his Bantam Weight crown in Kyoto against the American Daniel Roman (22-2-1, 8KO). The Japanese will have his first defense after winning the championship in April, when he forced then monarch Nehomar Cedeño to withdraw from the combat.
The Dominican Claudio Marrero (22-1, 16KO) will defend his interim Featherweight title against Puerto Rican Jesús Rojas (25-1-2, 18KO). The fight was included in the “GGG” and “Canelo” marquee on the 16th in Las Vegas and promises to add more action to the great event.
A week later in Los Angeles, the Venezuelan Jorge Linares (42-3, 27KO) will defend his Lightweight world championship of the WBA against the British Luke Campbell (17-1, 14KO). Linares will have his second defense of the title he won last September against Anthony Crolla, which he defended in March during a rematch against the british from Manchester.
On the same 23rd of September, Cuban Yunier Dorticos (21-0, 20KO) will expose his Cruiseweight Crown against Russian Dmitry Kudryashov (21-1, 21KO). The fight will take place in San Antonio, Texas and will be an interesting match between resistance fighters that has a high probability of ending in KO.
These four combats will accompany the fight between Golovkin and Álvarez as the main dishes of the WBA in September, a month that as usual, guarantees good fighting in the combats that involve the entity’s crowns.
