Santo Domingo experienced a great boxing night on Friday organized by Shuan Boxing in tribute to Gilberto Mendoza, President Emeritus of the World Boxing Association (WBA).

Bryan Perez was the star of the night when he won the WBA-Fedecaribe Light Heavyweight title against Felix Valera by unanimous decision. The cards were 95-91, 94-92 and 94-92, with which Perez took revenge for his loss against “Mangú” in 2018.

“El Black” knocked down Valera on three occasions and although the bout had some illegal punches, he proved to be the best of the night to get the victory.

Meanwhile, Erick “Pacman” Rosa got an important win for his career against Venezuelan Kenny Cano and retained his WBA-Fedelatin Minimumweight title in a great performance.

In another bout, Colombian Juan Carrillo won the WBA Fedecentro Light Heavyweight belt by defeating Venezuelan Reinaldo Gonzalez, while Carlos Adames defeated Bryan Medina in the Super Welterweight division.

The event was held in honor of Gilberto Mendoza, who passed away five years ago, and who was one of the most influential leaders of the boxing world during his great presidency.

Farewell to a great: Rest in Peace, Marvin Hagler
