Murodjon Akhmadaliev retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight Super Championship with a good unanimous decision win over Jose Velasquez on Friday night at the SNHU Arena in New Hampshire, United States.

The Uzbek got 119-109 scorecards from the three judges and made the second defense of his belt against the brave Chilean challenger, who put up a good fight during the 12 rounds.

“MJ” was able to take advantage of his reach and speed to make a fight at a distance but hitting hard both to the face and body of Velasquez. Changing angles was the key for the monarch, who was able to strike and change positions to confuse his opponent.

Velasquez was not an easy opponent. The South American showed that he was more than ready for the challenge and knew how to use his guard well while throwing power punches and was able to connect well with his right hand in both straight and hook.

In the end it was a very interesting and tough fight in which Murodjon brought out his best tools and was able to take most of the rounds to keep his black and gold crown, as well as the IBF belt.

It was victory number 10 for the champion, who has 7 knockouts and is undefeated. Pancora” Velasquez dropped his record to 29 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws and 19 knockouts.
