Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, President of the World Boxing Association, ended a successful tour in Asia, where he visited Taiwan and Japan.   

His first stop was in Taiwan to meet Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu, the highest leader of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA), with whom he expects to work in joint projects.

Later, he visited Japan, where he presented WBA-Asia, new regional organization that will control and govern boxing activity in that region he also announced that   Alan Kim was confirmed as its chairman.  

He also met Hiroshi Akyama, Chief Executive Director of the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC), was pleased with the creation of the new WBA Asia body

President Mendoza also met with some Japanese boxing promoters and boxers, like Akihiko Honda, Hitoshi Watanabe, Kazunori Ioka, and Kameda brothers. 

The intention of the WBA President is to continue the sustained boxing development in Asia, one of the most important regions for the organization he presides.
