Israil Madrimov and Michel Soro will fight next Friday, December 17 in a World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight eliminator fight at the Renaissance Hall in the city of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

The mandatory bout of the pioneer organization was set after both parties reached an agreement and now Matchroom Boxing will promote the fight at Madrimov’s back yard. The WBA had summoned a purse bid for the fight, however the parties were able to reach an agreement.  

Soro is the gold champion and the number one rated fighter. An Ivory Coast native of French nationality, he was interim champion and subsequently won the gold belt in 2018, which he defended on a couple of occasions and earned him the top ranking. He has five consecutive wins dating back to 2017, after he lost to Brian Castaño by split decision.

Madrimov is ranked No. 2 and since he made his debut in 2018, he has made clear his strength and the quality he has to aspire to a world belt. And he defeated opponents with good records and feels ready to face the toughest opponent of his career. 

Soro has a record of 35 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 24 knockouts, while Madrimov has 7 wins, no losses and 5 knockouts.
