In one of the biggest upsets of the night at the T-Mobile Arena, Argentina’s Ismael “El Terrible” Flores claimed the WBA Continental Americas super welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Isaac “La Bestia” Lucero.
Serving as the opening bout of the card headlined by David Benavidez and Gilberto Ramírez, the fight showcased a dominant Flores from the opening bell. Despite entering as the underdog, the Spain-based Argentine imposed an aggressive pace and relentless pressure that effectively neutralized Lucero’s technical boxing.
Over the course of ten rounds, Flores consistently cut off the ring and punished his opponent with sharp combinations to both the head and body. Lucero, unable to establish his long-range jab due to the suffocating offense, was forced to fight off the back foot for most of the contest, conceding control of the ring.
After ten rounds, the judges returned decisive scorecards of 99-91, 98-92, and 98-92, all in favor of Flores. With the victory, Flores improves to 18-0 and firmly establishes himself on the international stage at 154 pounds, delivering a dream debut in Las Vegas. On the other side, Isaac Lucero suffers the first loss of his professional career, dropping to 18-1 on a night where Flores’ physical strength and relentless pressure proved to be the difference.
