British boxer Nina Hughes, who comes from being one of the big surprises in 2022, successfully made the first defense of her World Boxing Association crown at 118 pounds. She defeated Latie Healy unanimously this Saturday night at the colossal Wembley Arena in England.

The contest was led by Hughes’ constant pressure. Aware of her smaller stature, against a Healy who tried to keep her off with the length of her arms, Hughes took advantage to get underneath her opponent’s fists and connect on combinations that looked for a knockdown that didn’t come.

Healy presented Hughes with a significant challenge. However, the boxing of the British veteran prevailed and at 40 years of age, she picked up her sixth win and first title defense with glory to continue to make the unthinkable a reality for many.
