Galal Yafai ready for professional boxing

The great amateur boxing fighters who stood out at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games continue to make their way in the professional field and now the turn is for the 52 kilogram gold medalist, the British Galal Yafai.

The 29-year-old fighter signed a promotional contract with Matchroom Boxing and plans to make his debut on February 27 in the London event, which will have Lawrence Okolie facing Michal Cieslak as the feature fight.

Yafai won the gold medal in a very complicated division, he had to beat opponents like the Cuban Yosbany Veitia, the Kazakh Saken Bibbosinov and the Filipino Carlo Paalam. In the category there were other big names such as Colombian Yuberjen Martinez, Irishman Brendan Irvine or Spaniard Gabriel Escobar.

Yafai comes from a family of good fighters and is the brother of former world champion Kal Yafai. He makes his entry into professional boxing in triumphant fashion in the flyweight division and the boxing world is anxious to see what he is capable of in this new stage of his career.
