Joshua Franco lost his World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight world title after failing to make weight on Friday. The American clocked in at 121.6 lbs, nearly 7 over the division limit (115 lbs) before his bout against Japan’s Kazuto Ioka.

Both parties reached an agreement to try to make the bout this Saturday and that is that they will weigh in around 10:00 a.m. (local time) and both must be under 130 lbs. at that time. If this is met, both teams agree to make the fight.

It should be noted that only Ioka will be eligible for the pioneering body’s belt if he wins. Should Franco win or there is a draw, the crown will be vacant as dictated by WBA rules.

Franco has a record of 18 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws and 8 knockouts. Ioka has 29 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 15 knockouts.
