Fortuna returns to the ring in the Dominican Republic

Dominican Javier Fortuna (36-3-1, 25KO), former World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight champion, returns to the ring on February 20 in his country to face for the first time a foreign opponent, Venezuelan Rafael Hernandez (32-14-3, 25KO).

Fortuna, as reported in the Sunday newspaper Hoy, said: “fighting in my country commits me to a good preparation, I cannot fail the Dominican people” and added about his opponent: “I have been watching videos of him, he is a tall, strong and aggressive boxer and corresponds to the type of fight I like to face”.

“El Abejon”, as the fighter is known, comes from losing to Joseph Diaz last July 2021 by unanimous decision and hopes this February 20 to return to the path of victory.
