Mexican Erika Cruz, featherweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), told the Mexican newspaper Eje Central that her greatest desire in 2022 is to be the undisputed champion of the division. 

Cruz, who was awarded the WBA Newcomer of the Year 2021, wants to continue growing in her career and one opponent she wants to face is the Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano, who is currently campaignin at 135 pounds. 

In the interview “La Dinamita”, as she is known, talked about her life in the National Guard and the discipline that this institution demands from her and her facet as a mother, which she knows well how to combine with boxing. 

Last year Erika Cruz was crowned after dethroning Canadian Jelena Mrdjenovich and then successfully defended her title against her compatriot Melissa Esquivel.
