The Mexican Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez won by technical knockout in three rounds to the British Rocky Fielding to win the super middleweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA), in a fight held at the mythical Madison Square Garden in New York.

Canelo was favorite before the fight and from the first assault he confirmed it by knocking down Fielding, who was expected to be more evasive, but in the end he came out to fight.

Before the outcome of the fight, the Mexican sent Fielding to the canvas in the second and twice more in the third.

After the commitment, Álvarez appeared before the media to talk about his performance and his near future, this was what the three-time champion said: “We prepared for everything, we expected a more moved opponent, but he came looking for the fight and we did our job with hooks to the body “.

“We have no confirmed opponent by May 2019, but without problems I would fight at 160 or 168 pounds, in both divisions I feel comfortable. On fighting in Mexico it would be an honor to return to my homeland, let’s hope it is a reality, “said Álvarez.

With the conquest of the WBA crown, Canelo becomes the tenth boxer born in Mexico to achieve three titles in three different divisions.

This year was a round for the Mexican, he beat Gennady Golovkin in a rematch fight, fulfilled his dream of fighting a full house at Madison Square Garden, received the National Sports Award in Mexico, and is positioned as the highest paid boxer, leading the sport of flat noses and cauliflower ears.
