The defense of the Super Featherweight Super World Champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Gervonta Davis and his challenger Hugo Ruiz are both warming up for their battle as Saturday approaches. Both fighters will go in the ring at Dignity Health Sports Park of Carson, California, and yesterday they had their final press conference before their confrontation.

Gervonta, who is on his way to stardom thanks to his powerful hands and boxing skills, met with the press along with his rival to talk about the fight. The champion was quite confident but above all excited to get into the ring and demonstrate what he is capable of doing.

“I’m ready. I’m excited. Ruiz is a great fighter and we are going to give a fight full of action” said the American.

“That he says he’s going to knock me out is a good thing, since he shows that he came ready to fight so we can give the fans a good fight,” insisted the southpaw, who will make his first defense of the crown he won against Jesus Cuellar last year.

For his part, the Ruiz thanked the champion for the opportunity to fight for the title and promised to make a great showing: “I will leave everything in the ring. I have every confidence that I will be world champion next Saturday.”

The event featured a plethora of boxing personalities, including Floyd Mayweather Jr. who touted Davis’ career. With the final appearance before the media over, both fighters must only overcome the scale this Friday to be ready for the fight for the 130 pound title.

Gervonta has an undefeated record in 20 appearances, in which he has won 19 times by knockout, while “Cuatito” Ruiz has a record of 39 wins, 4 losses, and 33 fights won inside the distance.
