Argentine Mirco Cuello showed the reason why he is considered one of the top prospects of his country and demolished Venezuelan Leonardo Padilla in just two rounds to conquer the World Boxing Association (WBA) international featherweight title during the first day of the KO Drugs Festival on Thursday.

A great atmosphere at the Casino de Buenos Aires surrounded the featured bout of the night, where Cuello, a former member of Argentina’s national team, put on an impressive performance.

Cuello’s speed was evident from the start to overcome all the tools of a more experienced opponent with good technique. Mirco started throwing his jab hard and combining the left hook to hurt Padilla from the start.

In the second round he connected with a combination to the face that ended with a hook to the body and Padilla on the canvas. Although the visitor got up, his condition was not fit to continue and the third man in the ring decided to end the actions.

Cuello, who is 21 years old, extended his undefeated record to 8 wins, with 7 knockouts. Padilla, dropped to 21 wins, 5 losses and 15 knockouts.
