Korea’s Hyun Mi Choi won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Boxer of the Month award, while American Claressa Shields won the October Honorable Mention for her strong performances.
Choi defeated Vanessa Bradford to retain her super featherweight belt from the pioneering organization in a tough but dominating fight in Seoul, capital of South Korea. After dealing with some setbacks, the Asian was able to come back and proved that she is one of the best in her division.
Meanwhile, Shields became the undisputed middleweight champion after defeating Savannah Marshall in a masterful performance that proved that she is the best in the world. The North American took out all her tools and won with a lot of class in a candidate for fight of the year.
In addition to the individual awards for the month of October, the WBA also published its lists of women’s rankings, which can be reviewed by both the press and fans on the WBA’s official website.
