Canadian featherweight Caroline Veyre put on a masterclass performance, dominating American Carmen Vargas en route to a unanimous decision victory (80-72, 80-72, 80-72) to capture the WBA Intercontinental Featherweight Title. The bout took place in Flint, Michigan, as part of the undercard for the highly anticipated showdown between Claressa Shields and Danielle Perkins.
From the opening bell, Veyre looked sharp and in control, dictating the pace while Vargas struggled to find her rhythm. The Canadian’s movement, accuracy, and ring generalship proved too much, as she cruised to a lopsided victory without dropping a single round.
Born in France but representing Canada, Veyre currently sits at No. 10 in the WBA featherweight rankings. She now boasts a record of 9-1, with her only career setback coming against Mexico’s Joanna Chavarría in a battle for the WBA International Featherweight Title.
