Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, current P4P king of the boxing world, made a 12-round masterful demonstration last night to defeat the previously undefeated British Callum “Mundo” Smith, in a fight held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

After all the rounds, the result was a unanimous decision: 117-111, 119-109 and 119-109, all in favor of “Canelo”.

Before an audience of 11,426 fans, the pride of Guadalajara, Jalisco gave a boxing recital that went from less to more, taking the lead all night before a Callum Smith who showed heart, bravery, pride and honor.

During the first half of the fight, “Canelo” was walking forward like a snake, dodging the Brits’ throwing hands with left and right combinations. During these rounds, Callum tried to adapt and regain ground in the fight, but he was unable to do so and just kept throwing punches without much power.

In the second half of the fight, things would not get better for “Mundo” because, not having a strong attack, Alvarez took advantage and the uppers started coming in, along with punches to the body and arms that would give way to a possible knockout in the last episode, but the Brit’s bravery did not abandon him and he finished the fight standing, with both eyelids affected and the nose visibly damaged by the power of the Guadalajara fighter.

With this performance, “Canelo” Alvarez took over the World Boxing Association (WBA) 168-pound Super Championship and improved his record to 54 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws, and 36 KOs; while Smith left his record at 27 wins, 1 setback, and 19 KOs.
