Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, president of the World Boxing Association, ratified Bulgaria as the home of WBA-Europe, that supervise and regulate boxing in that continent. The announcement was made at a press conference held in Sofia, organized by Mariana Borissova chair of the regional organization, and attended by Deputy Petya Raeva.

Mendoza underlined the importance of women within the WBA congratulating Borissova, the first female member in the WBA Directorate for her outstanding work heading the WBA-Europe.

“Mariana is an important asset for us. She has ruled and supervised boxing in Europe and has made us stronger. Besides, her good work within the WBA Directorate has led the way for other women like Shivana Inalsingh, who is the WBA Female Championship Committee Chairman”. Said WBA president.

Mendoza also said that WBA-Europe will promote certification programs for judges, referees, trainers. Will sponsor a KO Drugs Program, to fight narcotics and to form young boxers.

On her behalf, Mariana Borissova ratified her commitment to go the extra mile to develop boxing in Europe and to raise its the level as she has done over the last years

The WBA reiterated its goal to have a unique champion and to work closely with the other boxing organizations in search of improved things for this noble sport.
