Mario Barrios will make the first defense of his WBA Super Lightweight world title against Ryan Karl on October 24th at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The fight will be in the undercard of the Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz Super Featherweight and Lightweight Super Championships and will be one of the most important fights of the event.

Barrios won the title last September 28th with a great victory over Russian of Uzbek descent, Batyr Akhmedov. The 25-year-old fighter will defend his title for the first time.

In Karl’s case, he arrives at the fight with a streak of three victories by KO. The “Cowboy” will have his first title shot at 28 years of age.

The champion is undefeated in 25 fights, with 16 KOs. For his part, Karl has a record of 18 wins, 2 losses and 12 KOs.
