Irishman Caoimhin Agyarko made the first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) international middleweight championship by defeating Mexican Juan Carlos Rubio by unanimous decision this weekend in Nottingham, United Kingdom.

The 160 lbs. prospect once again showed good skills and won a unanimous decision with scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 98-92, which helps him continue growing and reaffirms him as one of the young fighters with the best projection in the category.

The strength and punching combinations were the constant during the 10 rounds. Although Rubio looked brave and tried to hurt Agyarko in the exchanges, he was limited by the regional champion and there was little he could do.

Agyarko, who is only 25 years old, now improved his undefeated record to 11 wins, 7 of them by knockout. Rubio, on the other hand, now has a record of 18 wins, 2 losses and 9 knockouts.
