The World Boxing Association (WBA) successfully completed the Officials Seminar at the 99th Convention. There was an exceptional attendance through the GoToWebinar and Youtube platforms with simultaneous Spanish-English translations.

This is the fourth seminar organized by the WBA during the coronavirus pandemic. The seminar was broadcast to hundreds of members who were able to see the presentations carried out by many officials, such as Luis Pabon (Puerto Rico), Roberto Torres (Puerto Rico), Raul Caiz Jr. (USA), Octavio Rodriguez (Panama), Gustavo Padilla (Panama) and it was moderated by the charismatic Julius Julianis (Spain).

The talk was very dynamic and addressed different topics such as the scoring criteria, the referee’s uniform during the COVID-19 situation, how to improve concentration, hypothetical cases, the slow count, and compliance with the rules.

The WBA will continue to hold seminars for officials to contribute to the training of the boxing staff on every field, and also to help this sport fans to learn about the rules implemented in and out of the ring.

The WBA made a decision on Championships and Qualifications: Figueroa will have an optional defense fight against Vazquez
