Josh Taylor will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Lightweight Super Championship and his WBC, WBO and IBF belts against Jack Catterall on Saturday at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

The undisputed 140-pound champion will be making his first defense of his titles on home soil, in a venue that will be packed with fans cheering on “The Tartan Tornado”.

In May of last year, Taylor traveled to the United States to face the then undefeated Jose Carlos Ramirez for the four most important titles of boxing’s governing bodies. Taylor won by unanimous decision and became the top fighter in the division, as well as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters.

The 31-year-old Scot will make his third defense of the WBA belt, which he won in October 2019 by defeating Regis Prograis.

On the other side is Catterall, a 28-year-old Brit who is undefeated and earned the right to fight for the championship. He is a southpaw like the champion, which can be an important characteristic for the strategy of the fight.

This week there will be different promotional activities and on Friday will be the official weigh-in. Taylor has 18 wins and 13 knockouts, while Catterall has 26 wins and 13 knockouts.
