Michel Soro brought out the best of his arsenal and dominated Brian Vera from start to finish to win by unanimous decision (120-107, 119-108 and 118-109) in his World Boxing Association Super Welterweight elimination fight.
The French born in Ivory Coast took the initiative from the first minute of the fight and cut the ring off against Vera, who tried to make a counterattack fight. The straight right and the blows to the sides were key for Soro to keep the American at bay during almost all the fight.
Soro knocked down Vera in the seventh round with a straight right and put him in bad conditions several times, especially in round 11, when he almost sent him back to the canvas with his good combinations.
Now, Soro became the first challenger to the title in the division, which is held by Argentine Brian Castaño. Soro’s record is now 32 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 21 knockouts, while Vera left his record at 18 wins, 1 loss and 11 knockouts.
