The Panamanian Daniel Miranda and the Colombian Yeis Solano are the new WBA-Fedebol Super Featherweight and Lightweight monarchs, respectively. Both won their titles last Saturday in Medellin, Colombia.

Miranda had a solid presentation. The Panamanian only needed three rounds to win the match, as his rival, the Colombian Victor Altamar, was defenseless to his attacks and lost by TKO.

“Yes, we prepared for this, to finish this fight early. We knew of his good boxing and that’s why the strategy was to attack him from the beginning and not let him breathe”, said Miranda, new WBA-Fedebol Champion at 130 pounds.

For his part, Solano had to complete all nine rounds to win his fight. The Colombian’s opponent was Venezuelan Luis Araguayan, who was sent to the canvas in the sixth round. The Colombian was superior during the whole battle, he set the pace and punished his opponent with strong hooks to the middle area. At the end of the ninth round, the judges gave him the victory by unanimous decision: 89-81 and double 88-82.

“I really wasn’t looking for the knockout, although I felt I could knock him out. However, he was a very tough opponent and had the ability to endure. This helps me keep improving”, said Solano, who is the new WBA-Fedebol Champion at 135 pounds.

Both gladiators highlighted how important it was for them to have a World Boxing Association Regional title, because most of the Panamanian and Colombian champions are from the WBA.
