Position Description

Position: President of the World Boxing Association

Reports to: World Boxing Association Assembly and Executive Committee 

Directs to: The Members of the Executive Committee 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Constitution, By-Laws and Regulations of the WBA to propose amendments aimed at improving and/or updating the instruments we have to regulate professional boxing.
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA.
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for good communication between the WBA and the rest of the world. 
  • Recruit new members for the WBA. 
  • Advise and assist the members who may need it. 
  • Attend and chair the Directorate and Assembly meetings of the WBA where he will present in writing his report or any other matter that in its own judgment deserves to be considered in these meetings.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 

  1. To exercise the Association’s representation in accordance with the attributes established in these Bylaws. 
  2. To exercise the representation of the ASSOCIATION at a National and International level, in all lawful acts, of any nature whatsoever, and in all those acts which are necessary in carrying out his duties.
  3. To appoint and remove the members of the Executive Committee, Regional Directors, Advisory Body, as well as the Directorate Advisors in any area that may contribute to the achievement of the objectives and purposes of the ASSOCIATION.
  4. To summon meetings of the Executive Committee.
  5. To order the notification for the celebration of the Ordinary and Extraordinary General Assemblies, according to the provisions of these Bylaws.
  6. To authorize all necessary payments, for its functioning, ends and objectives of the ASSOCIATION.  The Treasurer shall oversee all disbursements to be made by the ASSOCIATION and shall be correctly processed in accordance with general accepted accounting principles.
  7. To decide on the creation of any body, which in his opinion is advisable.
  8. To direct the General Ordinary or Extraordinary Meetings and those meetings of the Directorate.
  9. To appoint the representative of the ASSOCIATION for each Championship fight to ensure compliance with the Regulations established for the recognition and validity of all Championship fights.
  10. To appoint, in coordination with local authorities and according to the local laws of the country or region where the fight takes place, the officials (judges and referees) who will participate in each Championship fight. In this sense, the principle of neutrality and impartiality shall be observed and encouraged.
  11. The President and the Treasurer, shall manage everything related to the ASSOCIATION’s finances. The President and the Director of Administration and Finance are the persons authorized to determine and select the type of bank accounts for the movement of the ASSOCIATION’s funds in any institution in the world that they deem convenient. They are also the only persons who can authorize others to move funds on behalf of the ASSOCIATION, indicating the specific amounts for such transactions. The President is authorized to carry out the necessary administrative procedures before the banking or financial institutions for the opening, closing, operating and moving of the respective accounts.
  12. Authorize the credentials of all members of the ASSOCIATION.
  13. To agree and sign agreements with other recognized boxing organizations that will benefit the ASSOCIATION, informing the Executive Committee to the Directorate and/or General Assembly. 
  14. To request the vote of the Executive Committee and the regional directors, if applicable, for the consideration of a matter or subject of an urgent nature. All vote requests shall signed by the President or the Secretary. The members of the Executive Committee shall be obliged to send their vote to the President or Secretary within five (5) days upon receipt of the request. Those votes that are not received in those five (5) days stated herein will be considered in favor of the proposition that has the majority votes.

 

Position Description

Position: Vice-President of the World Boxing Association  

Reports to: President of the World Boxing Association

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Constitution, By-Laws and Regulations of the WBA to propose amendments aimed at improving and/or updating the instruments we have to regulate professional boxing.
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA.
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for good relations of the WBA with the boxing authorities of his country.
  • Send the President information regarding the situation of world boxing. 
  • Promote the adequacy of local boxing regulations with the WBA regulations. 
  • Answer any questions required by the WBA President. 
  • Recruit new members for the WBA.
  • Advise and assist WBA members who require it. 
  • Attend the Directorate meetings where he will present a written report of the corresponding activity and propose any other matter that in his opinion deserves to be considered at such meetings.
  • Supervise the World Championship fights duly entrusted by the WBA President. 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  • He is the person who replaces the president in cases of absence.
  • Develop the link that contributes to the strengthening of the ASSOCIATION with the authorities of their countries and zone of influence.
  • Oversee the good image of the ASSOCIATION in their countries and zones of influence.
  • To keep good relationship with mas media members. 

 

Position Description

Position: Executive Secretary

Reports to: President of the World Boxing Association

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Constitution, Statutes and By-Laws of the WBA with the purpose of proposing amendments aimed at improving and/or updating the instruments available to us today to regulate professional boxing. 
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA. 
  • Serve as a permanent link for the communications and relations of the WBA with the boxing authorities. 
  • Send to the President information related to world boxing. 
  • Encourage the compliance of local boxing rules with WBA rules. 
  • Answer any queries that may be required by the WBA President. 
  • Recruit of new members for the WBA
  • Advise and provide assistance to WBA members who require it. 
  • Attend the meetings of the Executive Committee and present in writing the respective report to the International Commissioner and any other matter that in its opinion deserves to be considered at such meetings.
  • Supervise World Championship fights duly commissioned by the WBA President. 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist the presidency.
  2. Summon all ASSOCIATION meetings upon the President’s instructions. 
  3. Keep an updated record of the minutes and proceedings of the decision-making bodies of the Association. 
  4. Design the logistics required for the organization of the ASSOCIATION meetings.  
  5. Follow up on the reality of the International boxing environment with the purpose of updating and modifying the Bylaws and other Regulations of the ASSOCIATION.  
  6. Shall be responsible for the preservation, strengthening and relationship with other recognized boxing organizations, keeping adequate coordination and information channels that contribute to the development of joint actions for the benefit of boxing activity.  
  7. Design the necessary logistics to organize the ASSOCIATION meetings.  
  8. Maintain good relations and communication with the different members of the ASSOCIATION.

Position: Female World Championships Committee

Reports to: The President of the World Boxing Association 

Directs to: World Championships Committee 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Constitution, Bylaws and Regulations with the purpose of proposing amendments aimed at improving and/or updating what we have to regulate professional boxing.  
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA.
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for the communications and good relations of the WBA with the boxing authorities of his country.
  • Submit to the President information regarding the situation of world boxing. 
  • Propitiate the adequacy of the local boxing regulations with the WBA regulations. Answer the consultations that are required by the presidency of the WBA. 
  • Recruit new members for the WBA.
  • Advise and provide assistance to WBA members who require it. 
  • Attend the meetings of the Executive Committee and to present in writing the respective report to the president and any other matter that in his own judgment deserves to be considered in said meetings.
  • Supervise of World Championship fights duly mandated by the WBA Presidency. 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 

  • Honor and enforce the Constitution, By-Laws and Regulations of the WBA. 
  • Keep an adequate coordination and permanent information with the members of the World Championships Committee.
  • Study, for proper approval according to the World Championship’ Regulations of Female title fights requests for sanctions that are presented for the celebration of a Female Championship fights recognized by the WBA. 
  • Consult with the members of the World Championships Committee when taking decisions that require the Committee approval. 
  • Keep an efficient control of mandatory periods for the celebration of mandatory World Title fights. 
  • Demand, with the due anticipation, the obligation of the Female Champions to comply with their mandatory defense in accordance with the periods established in the Female Championships Regulations of the WBA. 
  • Demand and enforce the payment for sanction fees of Female Championship fights of the WBA.
  • Demand and enforce, under formal condition that must he stipulated in the contracts for Female Championship fights the obligation of the parties involved, including the local commission of the Place where the fight will take place, to comply and strictly respect the WBA Regulations, including the appointment of Officials who shall be designated by the President of the WBA. 
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of World Championship belts.
  • Comply efficiently with any other duties that may he assigned to her by the Presidency of the WBA.

Position: International Coordinator 

Reports to: The President of the World Boxing, Association

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Constitution, Bylaws and Regulations with the purpose of proposing amendments aimed at improving and/or updating what we have to regulate professional boxing.  
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA.
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for the communications and good relations of the WBA with the boxing authorities of his country.
  • Submit to the President information regarding the situation of world boxing. 
  • Propitiate the adequacy of the local boxing regulations with the WBA regulations. Answer the consultations that are required by the presidency of the WBA. 
  • Recruit new members for the WBA.
  • Advise and provide assistance to WBA members who require it. 
  • Attend the meetings of the Executive Committee and to present in writing the respective report to the president and any other matter that in his own judgment deserves to be considered in said meetings.
  • Supervise of World Championship fights duly mandated by the WBA Presidency.  

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 

  • Coordinate of the exchange of communications between the WBA and all its members. 
  • Supervise the activities of all WBA Regional Boxing Organizations.
  • Coordinate the registration of the all WBA Regional Boxing Organizations and Commissions affiliated to the World Boxing Association throughout the world.
  • Inform Associate Members, Special Associate Members and Promoters of news concerning the Association. 
  • Keep the Associate Members, the Special Associate Members and the Promotors, informed of news concerning the Association. 
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for the communications and good relations of the WBA with all WBA Regional Boxing Organizations as well as with other boxing authorities around the world.
  • Supervise that all members of the WBA receive the information generated with such purposes. 

Keep permanent contact with news media in order to make available to everybody any information of public interest.

Position: President Legal Adviser

Reports to: The President of the World Boxing Association 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Bylaws and Regulations with the purpose of proposing amendments aimed at improving and/or updating what we have to regulate professional boxing.  
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA.
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for the communications and good relations of the WBA with the boxing authorities of the countries.
  • Submit to the President information regarding the situation of world boxing. 
  • Propitiate the adequacy of the local boxing regulations with the WBA regulations. Answer the consultations that are required by the presidency of the WBA. 
  • Recruit new members for the WBA.
  • Advise and provide assistance to WBA members who require it. 
  • Attend the meetings of the Executive Committee and to present in writing the respective report to the president and any other matter that in his own judgment deserves to be considered in said meetings.
  • Supervise of World Championship fights duly mandated by the WBA Presidency.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 

  • Honor and enforce the By-Laws and Regulations of the WBA. 
  • Handle the legal affairs of the WBA. 
  • Advise the Presidency when required. 
  • Study amendments proposed to the By-Laws and Regulations when submitted, for presenting them to the consideration of the Directorate and/or Assembly of the WBA. 
  • Present concrete recommendations on the amendments proposed, after duly analyzing them.
  • Maintain close coordination and communication with the members of the Legislative Committee. 
  • Be informed and express his opinion and recommendations on the decisions taken by the World Championships Committee or the Ratings Committee.
  • Recommend legal sanctions that may promote the respect and strengthening of the WBA, in those cases which he considers pertinent. 
  • Comply efficiently with any other duties that may be assigned to him by the Presidency of the WBA.

Position: Medical Advisory Committee 

Reports to: The President of the World Boxing Association 

Directs to: Medical Advisory Committee 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Review the Constitution, Bylaws and Regulations with the purpose of proposing amendments aimed at improving and/or updating what we have to regulate professional boxing.  
  • Promote and defend the good image of the WBA.
  • Serve as a permanent liaison for the communications and good relations of the WBA with the boxing authorities of his country.
  • Submit to the President information regarding the situation of world boxing. 
  • Propitiate the adequacy of the local boxing regulations with the WBA regulations. Answer the consultations that are required by the presidency of the WBA. 
  • Recruit new members for the WBA.
  • Advise and provide assistance to WBA members who require it. 
  • Attend the meetings of the Executive Committee and to present in writing the respective report to the president and any other matter that in his own judgment deserves to be considered in said meetings.
  • Supervise of World Championship fights duly mandated by the WBA Presidency. 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 

  • Respect and promote the WBA Safety Code.
  • Monitor compliance of the World Championships Regulations where medical judgement is the primary basis for decision making. 
  • Carry out permanent studies on: Pre-fight and post-fight medical examinations, recommendations for physical punishment, weigh-in, gloves, bandaging, round length, knock down, prohibition of stimulants, referee performance, injuries and any other condition where medical judgment prevails to ensure protective measures for Boxers in the ring. 
  • Perform the necessary medical studies to improve the mental and physical safety conditions of the boxers. 
  • Recommend specific actions to improve the control and medical check-up of the boxers during the pre-fight and post-fight periods. 
  • Keep close communication and coordination with the members of the ARP and the different boxing commissions.
  • To promote awareness and adoption of protective measures for boxers by WBA affiliated boxing commissions.
  • To carry out any other duties entrusted by the WBA President efficiently.

To promote the creation of the Medical Corner on the WBA website aimed at publishing papers and articles presented at the Association’s conventions with important contributions on the protection of boxers, safety measures, which will allow all doctors in the world who are interested in this sport present their work and experiences to improve the safety conditions of athletes which will undoubtedly contribute to keeping boxing a safe and respected sport.
