World Boxing Association (WBA) World Female Super Bantamweight Champion Liliana “La Tigresa” Palmera and Yazmín “La Rusita” Rivas went face-to-face in Colombia for the first time.

Rivas will be challenging the champion this Saturday, May 19th, at the Coliseo Miguel “Happy” Lora in Montería.  The fight was delayed one week from the initial May 12th date to figure out television transmission technical difficulties.

This will be Palmeras first defense of her title that she won in November via unanimous decision over Alys Sanchez.  Rivas, on the other hand, is coming into the fight off of an October victory over Yareli Larios via split decision.

Rivas has been training in high altitude for the bout, working on her conditioning so that she can go the full distance with the knockout artist and champion Palmera, who has no intentions of giving up her WBA title on the very first defense.
