In order to end the year 2020 on a high note for Latin American boxing, a gala called “Maratón Boxística” will be held on December 17th.
With the organization of Alberto Agámez Productions and the support of the World Boxing Association together with the local authorities, 20 high-quality bouts will be held on the beaches of Club Kilymandiaro, in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Among the promising matches, five of them will be between some female fighters from the region.
As it has already been said at the press conference, the intention is fundamentally to offer each fighter the possibility of showing their talent in the ring, especially in a year like this.
The most outstanding female fight on the program will be between the former 122-pound world champion, Venezuelan Alys Sánchez (16-7-1, 5 KOs), and Colombian Paulina Cardona (25-23-6, 11 KOs). This fight between two globetrotters of the ring promises action and is expected to be an exchange of high intensity shots with two fighters who have faced tough battles in their history. The bout has been agreed to eight rounds in the Super Bantamweight division.
Then, we will see again Colombian Monica Henao (2-1-3, 1 KO), who has kept on training with the desire of a new opportunity. On this occasion, she will face her compatriot Lira Huyke (1-0) in the Lightweight category in eight rounds.
On the other hand, to enrich the night, the following female promises will also be fighting: within the Super Featherweight division, in four rounds, Paulina Ángel (1-0) vs. the debutant Rocío Argel; also, Verónica Zuluaga from Medellin will make her professional debut against Mirleydis Hoyos (0-1) in the Super Bantamweight category; and in the same division, Daniela Salazar (0-3) will face Sindy Berrío (1-0).
These will be the women’s fights that will complement a great boxing lineup that the World Boxing Association is proud to accompany in order to maintain continuity of the activity.
