Jack Culcay will defend his interim WBA World super welterweight title against Jean Carlos Prada over a scheduled 12 rounds at the MBS Arena in Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany, on Saturday, April 9.

Born in Ecuador, but fighting out of Germany, 30-year-old Culcay is a seven-year pro (21-1, 10 KOs) who won the title last May by beating Maurice Weber via unanimous decision. He most recently defended this past December, beating Dennis Hogan by unanimous decision. Never stopped, “Golden Jack” has lost only once, to Guido Nicolas Pitto by split decision in April 2013, the Argentine scoring the WBA Inter-Continental super welterweight title that Culcay had won by stopping Frederic Serre via third-round TKO in August 2012. First-ranked by the WBA, Culcay regained the belt in his rematch with Pitto, beating him by unanimous decision in October 2013.

A Venezuelan who fights out of Londonderry, New Hampshire, 31-year-old Prada is an eight-year ring vet (31-1-1, 22 KOs) who hasn’t fought since January 2015 when he knocked out Likar Ramos in the second, winning the interim WBC FECARBOX welterweight title. The southpaw won the vacant WBC FECARBOX welterweight title in August 2013 by beating Basilio Silva via unanimous decision. He won the WBA Fedebol super welterweight title in February 2011 by beating Jose Vidal Soto via fifth-round technical decision. Thirteenth-ranked by the WBA, Prada’s only loss came at the hands of Luis Carlos Abregu, who won by eighth-round TKO in April 2014. Prada drew in his first fight, in June 2008, against Carlos Garcia.
