This Thursday was the last press conference before this Saturday’s fight between Leigh Wood and Mauricio Lara for the World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight title.

A great atmosphere and maximum tension was felt between the British champion and the Mexican challenger, who assured to be ready for the fight and also had a very intense face to face.

Wood showed himself totally confident of his victory and said so to the press present at the venue. “There is no way I will be beaten on Saturday night. I will be smart, tactical and get the knockout. This weekend will be special,” assured the 34-year-old fighter, who will be making the second defense of his belt.

Lara was equally aggressive in his statements and also assured that he will be looking for a knockout: “This will not go 12 rounds. I’m not disrespecting Leigh but I’m prepared to leave absolutely everything in the ring. I’m not here for a fight, I’m here for a war.”

Now the weigh-in ceremony remains, which will take place on Friday. Once they both meet the division’s 126-pound weight limit, they will be ready for the fight on Saturday.
