The World Boxing Association (WBA) deeply mourns the death of its long time member and friend Gonzalo Rivera, who passed away last Janaury 3rd in the city of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela.

Gonzalo was a key figure and part of the WBA family, which is presided by Dr.

Gilberto Mendoza. He played different roles whithin the WBA, such as World Ratings

Committee’s and World Championship Committee’s Director and FEDELATIN President.

Also, he was President of the Aragua State Professional Boxing Commission, among

other positions that he held with great commitment and professionalism, besides

showing a deep love for boxing.

The members of the WBA join the Rivera family mourn and send them their condolences

in this sad moment. May he rest in peace and God hold his soul.
