The WBA has made a boxing equipment donation to units of GAS (Service Support Group) of Panama National Police, the unit that leads the fight against drugs and drug trafficking in the country. The GAS Boxing Team is led by Carlos “EL Puas” Murillo, a former WBA light flyweight world champion.

The WBA in engaged in an longterm campaign against drugs with it’s flagship “KO to Drugs” Festivals half in various countries. WBA Executive Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza and “Lo Mejor del Boxeo” (a famous Panama boxing TV program) General Manager Oscar Ramos accompanied the equipment delivery to the National Police of Panama General Director, Gustavo Perez.

There are a number of Panamanian boxers who have a relationship with the National Police including current WBA female super bantanweight world champion Shantall Martinez, Irving Berry, Ricardo Nuñez, Alberto Mosquera and Yacksury Gordon among others.
