The World Boxing Association together with the World Boxing Council agreed to unify the names of the 17 weight divisions of both boxing organizations.

The idea of this unification is to reduce confusion with the names of the categories
the WBA and WBC, chaired by Gilberto Mendoza and Mauricio Sulaimán respectively are waiting for the IBF decision to join so the three boxing organizations have unified the names.

The new names will be used from the next ratings publication.
