Olympic and professional boxing in Central America received a significant boost following a successful working meeting between Alfredo Mendoza, Deputy Director of WBA Fedelatin, and officials from the Panamanian Boxing Federation (FEDEBOP). The primary objective of the meeting was to coordinate the logistics for two major international events scheduled for February 20 and 21 under the WBA Future program.
The two-night showcase, set to take place in Panama City, is designed not only to identify emerging talent, but also to strengthen a competitive pathway for fighters across the region.
The standout development of these events will be the participation of high-level international delegations. The national teams of Guatemala and El Salvador have confirmed their attendance and will travel to Panama to face the host nation’s selection in a series of international matchups.
Mendoza emphasized Panama’s importance as a key platform within the global boxing landscape and reaffirmed the World Boxing Association’s commitment to preserving and strengthening the grassroots foundation of the sport.
Representatives of the Panamanian Boxing Federation, meanwhile, highlighted the value of this exchange as a crucial opportunity to measure their fighters’ technical level against different styles and competitive approaches.
This joint effort between WBA Fedelatin and local federations ensures that all results will carry official international recognition.
