The WBA expresses its condolences to the family of Laura Elorde, who died this weekend at the age of 92.

Laura Elorde was the widow of Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, the Filipino boxing legend who was WBA Super Featherweight Champion during the 1960s.

Laura’s grandson, Nico Elorde, broke the news through his Twitter account with a picture of her posing with a portrait of Flash.

“Thank you for showing us how to be patient and religious. You are our light”, he wrote. “Forever in our hearts. We love you so much”, Nico noted in his message.

The WBA would like to extend its deepest condolences to all the relatives of Laura and the Elorde family. The prayers of the pioneer organization are with all of them.
