The World Boxing Association (WBA) mourns the death of Russian trainer Alexander Nikolaev, one of the great trainers in his country who worked with several amateur boxers.

Nikolaev had been fighting for his life after testing positive for Covid-19 and this week he lost the battle. The WBA has a great relationship with the Russian Boxing Federation and all its athletes and trainers, so it deeply regrets the loss of this great trainer.

Nikolaev has trained several Russian and European champions and his work with Alexander Besputin, who has excelled in the professional field, is noteworthy.

The WBA sends its condolences to his family and friends in this difficult time.
