This Saturday, April 22, a new era in Colombian boxing will begin in Barranquilla. The WBA Future of Colombian Boxing project is an initiative of Alberto Agámez Producciones, which has the support of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and will take place at the Cuadrilátero Élite Gymnasium in Barranquilla, Colombia. 

A hybrid of amateur and professional fights will provide opportunities for talents from all over Colombia to fight regularly and to exhibit themselves in this great window that will be broadcast via streaming on the WBA’s official YouTube channel.

In this first event there will be five professional fights. The first confirmed fight will be the one between Juan Camilo Gonzalez, from Cali, and Damir Padilla, from Cordoba, in a four round welterweight bout. 

Bogota’s Rini Khoudari will face Arlis Tapias, from Cordoba in bantamweight, while the participation of veteran Rober Barrera, lightweight Andres Perez and super flyweight William Jinete, in different fights, is also confirmed. 

Other fighters with a good record such as José Muñoz, Jhan Carlos Ubarnes and Miguel Bolaños have shown their intention to participate in this program and the organization is working to have them in future events.

The amateur fights for this first event will be confirmed soon. The requirement of the WBA Future of Colombian Boxing is to have, at least, four amateur fights per event and that the young fighters continue to find spaces for their training and preparation for different events of the national system and the Olympic cycle.
